The deadline for 2008 College Access Fairfax Scholarships is now past. Please check back in January, 2009 for the 2009 Scholarship Application. The 2008 Scholarship Recipients will be honored on May 21, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Annandale High School during a dinner reception catered by the Annandale High School Culinary Arts students.
Available Scholarships
In 2008, College Access Fairfax will administer ten (10) scholarships, including both need-based and merit-based scholarships. We utilize a common scholarship application form for these scholarships, which may be found here.
Our scholarships include the following:
“Last Dollar” Scholarships (six available for $1,000 each)
“James H. Dillard, II” Scholarship (available only to students planning to become a public school teacher, preferably, although not required to be, in the subject areas of History or Social Studies; requires special essay) -- $1,000.
“Dorothy E. Braunlich Memorial Scholarship” (available only to students planning to study Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine; requires special essay) -- $1,000.
“Fairfax Eagle Scout Scholarship” (Available only to a student who has successfully completed his Board of Review for the rank of Eagle Scout by April 11, 2008, has unmet financial need; requires special essay. Proof of rank attainment may include either Eagle number, letter from Scoutmaster, or letter from Chair of the District Advancement Committee) -- $1,000.
“Sharifa Alkhateeb Memorial Scholarship” (available only to a senior in Fairfax County Public Schools with a current GPA of 3.0, has been accepted to a four-year college/university, and has studied Arabic in Fairfax County Public Schools for at least one year; requires special essay) -- $1,000.
