*Christian N. Braunlich serves as Interim Executive Director of the Fund, responsible for day-to-day management of College Access Fairfax, serving as Program Director for the Financial Aid Champion program. He is a former member of the Fairfax County School Board, a former official with the National Association of Manufacturers, former president of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution, and former vice president of the Center for Education Reform. He is currently Vice President of the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy and has written extensively on education issues for numerous national and local newspapers. Mr. Braunlich is a member of the 2005 Fairfax County School Bond Committee.
**Dr. Jack Dale is Superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools. From 1996 to June 30, 2004, Dr. Dale served as Superintendent for
Frederick County (MD) Public Schools during which time he was named Maryland’s Superintendent of the Year. He is active in professional associations, serving as president of the Washington Area School Superintendent’s Study Council and is a member of the American Association of School Administrators, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National School Board Association and a number of other local professional associations and boards. Dr. Dale is co-editor and author of the book Creating Successful School Systems, and has published papers in a wide variety of educational journals. Dr. Dale’s Scholarship Fund Board responsibilities include ensuring a collegial relationship between FCPS and FSF employees.
**Hon. James H. Dillad, III is a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates, where he served as chairman of the House Education Committee. A 32-year veteran of the General Assembly, he was an active Fairfax County teacher and principal for 30 years. A graduate of The College of William and Mary (B.A.) and The American University (M.A., Political Science), Mr. Dillard is now a member of the William and Mary Board of Visitors. He is known to Fairfax County leaders as an active advocate and supporter of education, and as a member of the General Assembly led the fight for additional education funding. A member and past board member of the Fairfax Education Association, he has received community recognition for his support of youth and education causes, including Legislator of the Year from the Virginia State PTA, Child Advocate of the Year from the State School Board Association and Legislative Award of Excellence from the greater Washington Reading Council.
*James W. Dyke is a founding incorporator of the Fund. An attorney with the firm of McGuireWoods, he is a former Virginia Secretary of Education, was a Domestic Policy Advisor to former Vice President Walter Mondale. Mr. Dyke is an active leader in the Northern Virginia business community having served as chairman of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Northern Virginia Business Roundtable, chairman of the Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation, and chairman of the Emerging Business Forum. He has served or is serving on a number of commissions, including the State Council of Higher Education (SCHEV) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia. His Board responsibilities emphasize fundraising development and legal advice.
**Emily A. Snyder is an educational consultant and Managing Director of Know Your Options, LLC, a school placement and college planning services firm. Additionally, Mrs. Snyder provides student advocacy services to families with children in both public and private schools. A former member of the Fairfax County School Board and vice chairman of the Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent’s Community Advisory Council, Mrs. Snyder has presented at a variety of professional association conferences throughout the state of Virginia and has authored articles published in Washington Parent and by the American School Counselors Association. She is a member of Washington Independent Services for Educational Resources (WISER) and the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) where she serves on the College Committee and is Chair of the Website Development Task Force. Her review of Dr. Kevin Kalikow’s newly released book, Your Child in the Balance: An Insider’s Guide to the Medication Dilemma, has recently been published in the Winter Issue (Jan/Feb 2007) of IECA’s Publication, Insights.
*Judith “Tessie” Wilson is the primary motivator of College Access Fairfax. A member of the Fairfax County School Board, Mrs. Wilson has an extensive accounting practice specializing in non-profit entities. In that capacity, she has served as accountant to the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria for more than a decade, and is familiar with the operations of a College Access program through her membership in the National College Access Network. Prior to her service as a member of the school board, she served on the Superintendent's Advisory Council, Middle School Language and Grammar Textbook Advisory Committee, and Task Force on Middle School Grading. She is past vice president of Bonnie Brae PTA and cofounder of the Youth Council, and past treasurer of Robinson PTSA. Her Board responsibilities include maintaining all financial records of the Scholarship Fund.
